AdiOrth: Two curious entreprenuers taking over an ambitious project

The humble beginnings of AdiOrth and their cofounders began in Coimbatore known for manufacturing and industries. Both the cofounders have always wanted to be entrepreneurs that build things and was waiting for the right time. In the meantime, Priya went about getting her doctorate and Abishek went about becoming a surgeon. Once done with their education, they began exploring opportunities in and around Coimbatore.

It was just matter of time before the cofounders gravitated towards the industrial revolution 4.0 as it was more deeprooted in manufacturing sector. The additive manufacturing technologies have been here for a very long time but IR 4.0 is bringing it to mainstream. The recent developments in this field are very exciting and more and more research are being concentrated in these technologies. All these excited us and we began exploring sincerely.

After tons of late-night readings and bouncing ideas of digitization, AI applications and other recent technologies, we figured manufacturing sector is best suited for us. So this set us on the path of looking into various applications of 3D and 4D printing and the availability of market gap for such solutions. One fine day, biocompatibility stumbled upon us (yes, that’s right.) and we began reading about the developments in manufacturing of biocompatible things and whether there is a potential market gap. On this topic, we became very much interested in biocompatible metals, polymers and functionally graded materials. This again led us to additive manufacturing niche but this time we were convinced about the potential developments that could happen in this niche.

There are many application for biocompatible materials and functionally graded materials in the health sector despite being a conservative industry rightly so. Some well-known application are stents, drug delivery systems, menstrual cups. We were looking for more applications with market gaps and realised orthopedic sector requires more patient-oriented solutions.

As our searching area, became narrower, we became excited. We studied various available solutions and the history of the developments in this field. There are not many Indian orthopedic manufacturers that are realising potential of 3D and 4D printing and those that realise have also realised how capital intensive and high standards of constraints as these devices are Class-D. In the future posts, we will explore various issues and constraints as well as the approach to meet these demands.

At AdiOrth, we realised that a strong foundation of knowledge and basics is essential to build strong products that serve Indian population. After hundreds of hours of literature review of the issues in the available products, limitations and gaps we set about to explore various emerging and developmental technologies that can be used to figure out the solutions for the gap. Also, we have adopted a newer approach to build our MVP. The methodologies used in AdiOrth are completely inhouse and properitary which will give us a strong hold in this market field.

We began building multiple POCs and are currently building a MVP in real life. We are committed to building the MVP using the emerging technologies wherever possible. This has made us very excited about the path AdiOrth is moving now. AdiOrth are very keen to establish ourselves in Indian Medical Device Industry. In the upcoming posts and letters, we are going to keep talking more about our solutions, their application and our journey. Toodaloo.
